“Oh my gosh, Katie what happened?” My mother said unexpectedly. “I don’t know mom something just attacked me and I don’t know what it was.” “Did it do anything to harm you?” “No mom, well I really couldn’t see anything because it was dark, and all I could see was a big blur on top of me!”
March 2, 2018,
2 days before the attack. It was almost my birthday and no one really cared. But at least I did because I bought a new……. AHHH! HELP! KATIE! HELP! “Mom what’s wrong?” “HES BITING ME!” My mom screamed out in pain. I said “hey what the hell are you doing?” “MMMMM…..” SLURP! CHOMP! SNAP! CHOMP! “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ON MY MOM?!” As soon as that….. thing gave up interest of my mom’s leg, it came straight towards me. I mean like bolting towards me like he was a famous track star or something. I had to act fast so I could save my mom. So finally I saw something shiny with a sharp blade. I grabbed it and took this blade, threw it between his eyes, suddenly he dropped like a crow had gotten shot by a AK74 machine gun.
“Mom are you okay?” “Yes dear, I’m fine”, she said in soft plain tears. “Let me take you to the hospital, and see what the doctors could do.” I said in a panic. “Can you at least make it the the car?” “I don’t know, I’ll try.”
As soon as they got to the hospital they rushed through the doors and started to scream. HELP! HELP! MY MOM IS IN PAIN! One of the doctors came up and grabbed her, then tossed her up on the trolley bed. 5 seconds later another doctor grabbed my arm and said “Come with us and you can stay by her side at all times.” She said politely.
The doctor said, “So what happened exactly?” I said, “Umm… I was upstairs then I heard my mom yelling and screaming my name out. Then, there there was a man on top of her leg chewing it up. And it started gushing up lots of blood.” “Well now ya’ll both are safe in our hands.”
Hours later that morning, the doctors came out and told me that they had to dislocate her leg and maybe have to put a robotic leg, and attach it to her so see could walk again. I said well okay but how long do you think the procedure would take?n”I’m not sure but we are trying our best to help her. You two can stay here tonight if ya’ll would like so that we could help you if something bad happens.” Okay, can I see her now? “Yes but you probably won’t because they are attaching the robotic leg on.”
After that night I heard something banging on the door. But I didn’t go up to it because I was still exhausted from yesterday. When, I told the doctors they told me “To never go towards the door because before the TV’s shutdown, theu told us that there was a type of disease carried around her in New Jersey.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR…Donna McDine is an award-winning children’s author, Honorable Mention in the 77th and two Honorable Mentions in the 78th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competitions, Preditors & Editors Readers Poll 2010 Top Ten Children’s Books, Global eBook Awards Finalist Children’s Picture Book Fiction, and Literary Classics Silver Award & Seal of Approval Recipient Picture Book Early Reader ~ The Golden Pathway.
FROM PEANUT…Sad. I’m glad slavery is no more. To be beat for any reason is really sad. To watch someone be beat is just as bad. I’m so glad that David helped Jenkins escape his Pa’s mean ways.
FROM MOM…Excellent book that brings up the topic of the cruel slavery ways of yesterday. Not only can you talk about slavery but you can talk about helping others, and alcohol abuse. I recommend parents read this book WITH their children as there will surely be plenty of questions to follow. At first my son started to read it alone and came back to me real sad because the story felt so real to him. That’s when I realized we should have read it together.
We received a free copy to read for our thoughts.
Everyone shares one thing in common. We are all different from each other and it is our diversity, which makes each person unique. “Keiko the Koala” is so much more than a book. It’s a powerful tool for parents to teach their children how to build strong relationships and self esteem. Young children will cherish Keiko in their formative years because he is comforting and entertaining. This exciting story is immediately rewarding to children, as they hear about the adventure of a koala bear, who finds himself lost in the forest. As he meets other animals, he quickly learns that he is different from other bears. You feel the anticipation as Keiko searches for a way out of the forest. While on his journey, he meets a young boy named Cody and they become friends. Cody is sad because he is different from other kids. Keiko teaches him that being different is what makes us special.

FROM LADYBUG…I liked how this book felt like I was reading an adventure after Keiko fell off the truck and wandered through the forest meeting all the different animals. I was sad to see how the book ended because I was hoping Cody would have taken Keiko back to the zoo or brought him home.
FROM PEANUT…I thought the story was about how it was OK not to be like others. That’s cool. It’s cool to be different so you can stand out. I thought it was a great book and I liked the pictures.

FROM THE MOM OF THE BOOKSNATCHER KIDS…Maryann B. Sawka is like the modern Emily Post for the young when it comes to table manners. She talks about what to do and what not to do while at the table, how to set a table, and even how to eat properly at the table. While I wouldn’t say this was a thrilling and entertaining read for bedtime, it still is a good book to share with kids (or maybe even those annoying ill-mannered relatives of yours).
THE GIVEAWAY…We’re giving away ONE copy of Good Table Manners Made Easy by Maryann Sawka. All you have to do is tell us what one table manner was drilled into you growing up! For me (the mom) it was “Get your elbows off the table when you eat!”

FROM PEANUT…I’m on a roll! I’ve got my black kitty Brighad on my mind today. Here’s a fun book series I like called Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel. The series has all kinds of situations this bad kitty gets into. Enjoy the funny book trailer I found on YouTube.
From the creator of The New York Times bestseller Boing! comes the riotous story of a cat gone berserk — four times over an in alphabetical order each time. Kitty is not happy hen she’s told that her favorite foods are all gone and all that’s left are Asparagus, Beets, Cauliflower, Dill…and 22 other equally unappealing vegetables. So she: Ate my homework, Bit grandma, Clawed the curtains, Damaged the dishes, and so on, through Z. Only when tastier things arrive (An Assortment of Anchovies, Buffalo Burritos, Chicken Cheesecake…) does she Apologize to Grandma.
When a kitty discovers there is no cat food in the house, she decides to become very, very bad. – FROM B&N
FROM PEANUT…I LOVE Pete the Cat – I Love My White Shoes. Got to listen to it today in reading camp (I’m tracked out of regular year round school right now). He’s a cool cat. The author wrote this book to tell you that if something bad or sad or anything else happens to you, just keep on walking and flow with life with a smile on your face by “singing your song”. Below is the live reading recorded I found on YouTube. Hope you like it as much as I did. I’m sure you will be singing the song all night long. “I love my red shoes…”

Pete the Cat goes walking down the street wearing his brand new white shoes. Along the way, his shoes change from white to red to blue to brown to WET as we steps in piles of strawberries, blueberries and other big messes! But no matter what color his shoes are are, Pete keeps movin’ and groovin’ and singing his song…because it’s all good. – FROM B&N

FROM LITTLEONE…I liked the part where they do science and math. At home I like to play with our monopoly money and pretend I’m shopping at the grocery store and at school I’ve made a pattern necklace too with cereal. I think the book is good and funny!
FROM MOM…Vibrant colors and fun rhyming theme throughout the book. Excellent children’s book about the importance of taking the time to study with real examples of how they would use the skills in real life. We definitely recommend this book for all young readers in elementary school to read alone or with parents and teachers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR…When Beverly was a child she hated to read. She hated to write. She was grown and married, with children, before she discovered what she was missing. Reading to her sons was the beginning. Then she started teaching and read to her students. Today, she’s retired and reads every spare minute. When she’s not reading she is writing.
She lives in the country with her husband, two cats that adopted her, and a variety of wild critters that stop by for a handout. Her four novels for teen readers, Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines, Listen to the Ghost, Secrets I Have Kept, and Rebel in Blue Jeans are available here on Amazon. Just Breeze, a MG/tween novel is available in print and Kindle. Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines is a Finalist in the 2011 Next Generation Indie Awards, novella category, and also in the Dan Poynter eBook Global Awards, teen division. Her first picture book, Frankie’s Perfect Home, is absolutely gorgeous thanks to Alex Morris’ beautiful illustrations. And her first easy reader, Tumbleweed Christmas, is has the neatest characters illustrated by Bridget McKenna. Her YA contemporary Life on Hold is due out in early 2012. Tumbleweed Christmas is nominated for the Cybil’s Award. Yay. Life is good.
Tumbleweed Christmas is Beverly’s latest release. Visit her online at:

PEANUT’S THOUGHTS…I liked Tumbleweed Christmas and how Jackie didn’t just think of herself during Christmas. She wanted to make her family and even her friend Daniel happy. I can relate to this story. Sometimes we have to get creative. Besides, Christmas is about giving to others, not just for receiving. At least that’s what mom says. I even made a board game for school and shared the story with my class. And you know what? I got a 3 out of 4 grade for my reader’s wheel project. Cool!
I got a copy of the book to read and tell you what I thought. I was not bribed with money so I could buy some new toys but still I told you what I thought because I think you should know. Thank you Pump Up Your Book Promotion, the author, and mom (the one and only from The Book Faery Reviews) of course for hooking me up with more books (and helping me with my post)!
Jadyn and Genesis want to play together but neither one wants to play what the other one wants to. What will they do? Will they be able to brainstorm and find a way to play together? Donalisa is finishing her Masters in Social Work so that she can be a therapist for children and adolescents. Her mission is to encourage a love of reading in our children and re-ignite the love in you.
LITTLEONE’S THOUGHTS… My favorite part was the playhouse but I was sad that the girls didn’t play house together. They didn’t play together because they wanted to play different things. The mom said they should try to do things together but still do what they wanted. That’s called compromise. I have to do that sometimes at school and home with my brother and sissy.
I liked the book and the girls looked so cute. I’m taking the book to school to share with my class.
I got a copy of the book to read and tell you what I thought. I was not bribed with money so I could buy some new things but still I told you what I thought because I think you should know.
