PhotobucketI’m Not Fat Because I Wanna Be is a story was about a young girl that was very upset about her weight and how she was treated at school.  She had gone to many doctors to help her understand why she had so much weight on her. The doctors said she was fine but she did have a stomach issue that could be fixed with medicine.

One day her and her mom were watching tv.  She remembered how one of the doctors called her fat to her mom and how she didn’t like being called fat. But like my mom, her mom told her that “no matter how people look honey, they all have something about them that makes them feel special”.

I liked this book because she shares with everyone what she went through. In a way, the book hurt to read when others were calling her fat and making fun of her.

I know what that girl felt like. I’ve been to many doctors to find out why I was bigger than the other kids. I saw an my normal doctor, an Endocrinologist, and even a kids Diabetes doctor. I play sports and I’ve been to several kid exercise & nutrition programs. I was embarrassed every time I had to get on the scale but I knew they all just wanted to help. I’m still dealing with the issues but I am assured by my parents and family that I am still beautiful and have much to give.

I want all the girls who think they are fat to read this book that are around my age (I am almost 12). We are all beautiful no matter our size or what other people say.

Thank you to World of Ink Tours and LaNiyah Bailey for sending me a copy of the book to review AND for letting me give away a copy to one of our readers here at BookSnatchers. This giveaway will run now through the end of August.

Dear Readers – just let me know what you think in the comment area for a chance to get a copy!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR…LaNiyah Bailey is a 6 year-old kindergartner from Chicago. In such a short period of time this 6 year old, has been through a lot.

Born October 9, 2004 she came into the world “smiling” at 6 lbs 9oz. At that time LaNiyah’s parents knew she was “special.” LaNiyah has a cool and true story to tell about how she now deals with kids taunting and teasing her because she’s “different.”

LaNiyah had to learn that everyone is not your friend and that the old saying: sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt me, was not true. She learned that words can hurt a lot more than sticks and stones.

But with the love and support of her family, she has over come many obstacles, which is why she wanted to share her story and let the world know, that there are other reasons some people are not “normal” and we should look at a persons heart and intentions, versus what they look like on the outside.
